What Is Baby Alpaca?
Alpacas are gentle members of the camelid family, native to the highlands of the South American Andes. For centuries, their remarkable fleece has been treasured for its softness, warmth, and lightness.
Despite its name, “baby alpaca” does not necessarily mean fiber from a young animal. It is a classification of exceptionally fine alpaca fiber, selected for its delicate texture and softness.
The fine structure of baby alpaca fibers creates a wonderfully soft feel while providing natural insulation without excessive weight. Alpaca fiber also contains relatively little lanolin compared with sheep’s wool.
These qualities make baby alpaca especially valued in luxury knitwear, where comfort, warmth, and a delicate touch are essential.

Our exclusive yarn is made from a carefully balanced blend of 70% baby alpaca, 23% polyamide, and 7% merino wool.
What makes it truly special is its innovative tubular construction. Using a gentle stream of air, fine baby alpaca and merino fibers are blown into an exceptionally delicate polyamide mesh.
This nearly weightless structure holds the soft fibers in place, helps the yarn maintain its shape, and gives it remarkable volume without unnecessary weight.
The result is the signature OliviMilly texture - incredibly soft, fluffy, and airy, yet beautifully structured.
